On Friday 25th September, All About Tourism and NET Tramlink will join forces to put on ‘Coffee for Commuters’ at The Old Market Square tram stop from 8am. All the coffees just require a donation for Macmillan Cancer Support on the day.
Coffee Mornings are MacMillan Cancer Support’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Raising a massive £25 million last year, Macmillan are aiming to raise even more this year. With the first ever coffee morning starting back in 1990, with the simple idea of a small gathering of friends getting together for coffee and cake and then to donate the cost of their cup of tea or coffee to Macmillan.
Andy Whyles, Director at All About Tourism stated“We are delighted to be working with NET Tramlink and supporting Macmillan Cancer Support with this coffee morning. We are sure the commuters of Nottingham will get behind the coffee morning and help out a wonderful cause.”
Jamie Swift, Marketing Manager at Tramlink Nottingham also commented “The coffee morning initiative is a terrific idea to support an organisation which touches so many people. We’re proud to be backing both the Show and this particular fund-raising effort which we hope will be a huge success.”
With 2.5 million people in the UK now living with cancer, which is estimated to be around 4 million come 2030, each donation that Macmillan Cancer Support can get is vital to help and support everyone affected.
Rachel Herrick, Area Fundraising Manager, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire & Rutland has said “Everyday 16 people in Nottinghamshire receive the devastating news they have cancer. This will see Nottinghamshire’s population of people living with cancer double between 2010 – 2030. This huge increase will result in thousands more people feeling isolated and alone everyday, even after treatment ends. Macmillan is taking action to resolve these issues by providing practical, emotional and financial support. We are delighted that NET and the Great Notts Food Festival are holding a coffee morning to support these much needed services. This support helps ensure no one will face cancer alone.”
So if you are a Tram user and use the Old Market Square stop, then be sure to grab a coffee off of one of the lovely people. For more information on Macmillan Coffee Mornings go to http://coffee.macmillan.org.uk/
