Johnny Pusztai part 1

Who better to start with than the legend that is Johnny Pusztai, famous Nottingham butcher at JT Beedhams in Sherwood.

When asked about his preparation for the Great Notts show he replied honestly with, ‘We never stop preparing’ and we believe him. He is so passionate about his food, already assessing stock and testing new recipes with the hope of creating a New Notts Sausage. He went on to tell us about the pork he will be using from Woodside farm in Wellow (near Newark) which he regularly visits to feed and work with the pigs, a real locally sourced happy pig is something you will always find from JT Beedhams.

As well as checking on stock and coming up with new products, Johnny has been busy coming up with themes and ideas for this years stall. It is important for him to get in as early as possible, so he can be ‘first in to beat everyone’ setting up the stall and organising to perfection.

Johnny is a big character, but that’s not the only thing drawing flocks of customers to the stall, the sausages are made on site for a customers order and there will be a number of competitions throughout the day (there will be more about these in the next article, we can’t go giving it all away just yet). In addition to all this there will also be some experimental sauce mixes, burger stacking to rival Man vs Food and a brand new Char-grill!

We can hardly wait.
